The Places You'll Go

Pigment Pens on Rag Paper, 8 x 11.

The Places You’ll Go are two artworks made using a technique called Pointillism or Stippling. I learned this process when I took 2D Design Fundamentals (ART 2201C) in the Fall of 2013. I fell in love with this technique that I consider it now as one of my hobbies. It takes a lot of patience to finish a piece because the amount of dots should be precise based on the value or the lightness or darkness of tones of the image. The process starts with selecting an image and turning it to black and white; the next step would be outlining the image on the paper either by the use of free-hand drawing, grid method, or by tracing it using graphite paper. The final step is the stippling itself, starting with the darkest part of the image to its lightest part.
