Sparks Magazine is an Asian-American publication run by the students of the University of Florida, University of Central Florida, and the University of South Florida. They release two issues (Fall and Spring) every school year. We start the process at the start of each semester. My job is to design magazine layouts for any article assigned to me. I usually receive draft articles from the writers two to three weeks after we begin the magazine process, then I start my design process from there. My designs depend on three things: the theme we have for that certain issue, the writer’s story, and the photographs they want to include on the article. I try to incorporate the three and create three design drafts using Adobe InDesign and Adobe Photoshop.
